Program Notes

The title is a reference to an overlook in World’s End State Park in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. According to legend, explorers making their way through the limitless ridges and valleys of the Northern PA Appalachian range rested at an overlook over what would be called the Loyalsock Canyon. Instead of seeing a canyon, however, they witnessed billowing fog rolling over the hills, creating a visual sea of grey and an appearance of the world’s end.

Breathless, staggering to the cliff, the western way is washed and hidden by nature’s majesty. Restless and anxious, we yet forge ahead, through the monolithic unknown.
